Maria Callas wird als die größte Opernsängerin ihrer Zeit bezeichnet. „Maria“ erzählt nun erstmals die Geschichte der Diva durch ihre eigenen Augen, als sie ihr turbulentes, schönes und tragisches Leben kurz vor ihrem Tod 1977 in Paris noch einmal durchlebt. „Maria“ ist der Abschluss von Pablo Larraíns Trilogie über faszinierende und berühmte Frauen des 20. Jahrhunderts, die er mit „Jackie“ und „Spencer“ begonnen hat.
