Der Kaufmann von Venedig (2004)
Starbesetzte Verfilmung der Tragikomödie von William Shakespeare. Venedig im 16. Jahrhundert: Der Kaufmann Antonio will dem jungen Aristokraten Bassanio aus Freundschaft finanziell helfen, damit dieser um seine angebetene Portia werben kann. Da Antonio das Geld jedoch gerade nicht hat, nimmt er bei dem Juden Shylock einen Kredit auf und bürgt mit einem Pfund seines eigenen Fleisches.
