Eine Frau, ein Mann, ein Dancefloor: So lernen sich Qiaoqiao und Guo Bin kennen. Irgendwo in der nordchinesischen Provinz haben sich diese traurigen Seelen gefunden, doch das anfängliche Glück hält nicht lange. Der mysteriöse und wortkarge Bin wird zunehmend frustrierter und flieht aus seinem Zuhause. Qiaoqiao, verwirrt von seinem plötzlichen Verschwinden, macht sich auf die Suche nach ihrer großen Liebe, doch in Bins neuem Leben scheint kein Platz für sie zu sein. Es beginnt die stille Reise einer Frau, die wie ein Phantom fast teilnahmslos durch die Provinzen Chinas gleitet und die wandelnde Umwelt registriert.
