The Wrestler (2008)
Randy „The Ram“ Robinson steht vor den Trümmern seines Lebens: Die große Zeit als Wrestling-Star in den 80er Jahren ist längst vorbei, finanziell ist es schlecht um ihn bestellt und seine Tochter Stephanie hat nicht mehr als Enttäuschung und Verachtung für ihn übrig. Während sich Randy an seine vergangenen Erfolge klammert, weiterhin auf miesen kleinen Kampf-Events auftritt und sich mit Steroiden in körperlicher Form hält, muss der abgewrackte Profi-Wrestler feststellen, wie weit seine Vereinsamung bereits fortgeschritten ist. Nur mit Stripperin Cassidy verbindet ihn eine tiefere Freundschaft. Zu seiner miserablen Gesamtsituation kommen erschwerend gesundheitliche Probleme hinzu, die ihren vorläufigen Höhepunkt in einem Herzanfall finden. Randy muss das Wrestling an den Nagel hängen um weitere Zusammenbrüche zu vermeiden – doch im Berufsleben kann der alternde Sportler nicht mehr Fuß fassen.
