Ein geheimes Regierungsprojekt versucht, das "Philadelphia Experiment" aus dem 2. Weltkrieg wieder herzustellen, das Kriegsschiffe unsichtbar machen sollte. Als das gelingt, wird plötzlich das original Kriegsschiff in die Gegenwart katapultiert, welches 1943 bei dem ersten Versuch verschwand. Doch das Schiff bringt auch Tod und Zerstörung mit in das 21. Jahrhundert. Nun liegt es an dem einen, letzten Überlebenden des ersten Experiments, die Katastrophe zu stoppen.
