In der Glut des Südens (1978)
Nachdem er unabsichtlich einen Mann getötet hat, flüchtet der heißblütige Farmergehilfe Bill mit seiner Freundin Abby und seiner jüngeren Schwester nach Texas. Um unangenehmen Fragen von Fremden über ihre Vergangenheit auszuweichen, geben sich Bill und Abby als Bruder und Schwester aus. Sie finden Arbeit bei einem wohlhabenden Weizenfarmer, der sich zum Ende der Ernte in Abby verliebt. Als er um Abbys Hand anhält, drängt Bill darauf, dass sie zustimmt ... aber nur, weil er weiß, dass der Farmer ernsthaft krank ist und nur noch ein Jahr zu leben hat. Der Plan, die Erbschaft anzutreten, scheitert, als sich die Gesundheit des Farmers verbessert.
