Jai und Meera führen in London eine glückliche aber unverbindliche Beziehung. Als sich für beide berufliche Herausforderungen an unterschiedlichen Orten auf der Welt ergeben, beschließen sie, sich in Freundschaft zu trennen. Doch Jai kann seinen neuen Job und seine Freiheit in San Francisco nicht wirklich genießen. Als ihm der ältere Veer dann die Geschichte seiner großen Liebe im Indien der 60er Jahre erzählt, realisiert er, dass Liebe mehr wert ist als Karriere.
