Fünf Touristen aus der bürgerlichen Wohlstandsgesellschaft suchen aus Sensationsgier die Begegnung mit einem Verbrecher, der sich in den Bergen Sardiniens versteckt hält. Unter seinem Einfluß offenbart sich ihre eigene barbarische Gesinnung, die sie angesichts eines Großeinsatzes der Polizei wieder scheinmoralisch zu bemänteln suchen.
