Im Internet lernt Mark die attraktive und mysteriöse Rachel kennen. Schnell entwickelt sich eine leidenschaftliche Beziehung zwischen den beiden. Eines Tages bittet Rachel darum, dass Mark ihren kleinen Bruder John, der oft in der Schule und auf dem Heimweg schweres Mobbing erdulden muss, im Alltag beistehen möge und im Zweifelsfall vor den Bullies verteidigt. Anfangs an der Idee zweifelnd, freundet sich Mark doch bald mit John an. Als John Mark jedoch eines Tages eröffnet, dass Rachel ermordet wurde, kann Mark das zunächst gar nicht glauben und will der Angelegenheit auf den Grund gehen. Er gerät dabei in ein Geflecht aus Manipulation und Gewalt, das sein gewöhnliches Leben vollkommen aus den Fugen reißt...
