Die hübsche, aber einsame Lucy arbeitet jeden Tag am Fahrkartenschalter der U-Bahn – verliebt in einen Traummann, den sie nur von weitem kennt. Eines Tages rettet sie ihm nach einem Überfall das Leben. Doch während Peter, ihr Traummann, im Koma liegt, wird Lucy im Krankenhaus von Peters Familie versehentlich für dessen Verlobte gehalten. Die Herzlichkeit, mit der Lucy aufgenommen wird, macht es ihr unmöglich, die Wahrheit zu sagen. Nur Peters Bruder Jack scheint etwas zu ahnen …
