True Stories (1986)
"Talking Heads"-Sänger David Byrne führt uns als "Erzähler" in das texanische Nest Virgil, das in den letzten Jahren durch neue High-Tech-Industrie zu Wohlstand gelangt ist. Er führt uns durch Diskothek, Einkaufszentrum und Supermarkt und stellt einige der Bürger vor: Ein Reigen schriller Originale, deren Leben hauptsächlich von Fernsehen, Werbung und Konsum bestimmt wird. Nachmittags nimmt er uns mit zur großen Parade und abends steigt dann schließlich eine bizarre Talentshow, in der jeder sich nach Herzenslust produzieren kann. Eingestreut sind neun Songs der Rockgruppe "Talking Heads".
