Statt auf einem Luxusdampfer landet ein verwöhnter Millionärssohn auf einem klapprigen Fischerkahn, von dessen Kapitän er prompt zum Schiffsjungen ernannt wird. Da er noch immer glaubt, die Reise gehe nach Hawaii, schlägt er sich wacker, und da er allen Gefahren und Fabelwesen trotzt, erringt er das Ansehen der Crew. Schwierigkeiten hat er nur mit einer Marathonschwimmerin, deren Rekordversuch er verhindert.
