Abraham erhält von Gott den Auftrag in ein Land zu ziehen, dass er ihm zeigen wird. Auf der Reise in das Gelobte Land Kanaan muss Abraham und sein Stamm zahlreiche beschwerliche Aufgaben bestehen. Auch wird Abraham mehr als einmal auf eine harte Probe gestellt, so auch an dem Tag, als er auf Anordnung Gottes seinen Sohn Isaak opfern soll.
