King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017)
Arthur wuchs in der Londoner Gosse unter Prostituierten auf, die sich um ihn kümmerten. Von seiner königlichen Herkunft ahnt er nichts, bis er eines Tages das magische Schwert Excalibur aus einem Stein zieht – eine Tat, zu der laut Legende nur der rechtmäßige König Englands fähig ist. Durch Visionen wird Arthur klar, dass der Tyrann Vortigern die Macht an sich gerissen hatte, nachdem er den rechtmäßigen König Uther Pendragon ermorden ließ, seinen eigenen Bruder – und Arthurs Vater. Der Sohn schließt sich der Rebellion gegen Vortigern an, für die auch die geheimnisvolle Magierin Mage kämpft. Es geht um die Befreiung der Bevölkerung von ihrem Unterdrücker, aber Arthur hat außerdem ein ganz persönliches Motiv, um Vortigern vom Thron zu stoßen …
