The Calling - Ruf des Bösen (2014)
Hauptkommissarin Hazel Micallef fristet in der verschlafenen Stadt von Port Dundas zusammen mit ihrer Mutter ein ruhiges Dasein. Gelegentliche Drinks und Schmerzmittel gehören zu ihrem ereignislosen Alltag. Ein Routine-Besuch bei einer erkrankten Nachbarin entpuppt sich jedoch als Schauplatz eines grausamen Mordes. Gemeinsam mit Detective Ray Green, dem das Alkoholproblem seiner Kollegin nicht entgangen ist und dem jungen Polizisten Ben Wingate, ermittelt die abgehalfterte Hazel in einem Mordfall, der ihren Horizont schon bald übersteigt. Der Täter hat scheinbar landesweit eine Reihe ähnlicher Morde verübt, die allesamt die Handschrift eines religiösen Fanatikers tragen. Ein Priester vermutet dahinter ein uraltes Ritual...
