God Told Me To (1976)
In New York kommt es zu mehreren schrecklichen Anschlagserien, Sniperszenarios oder Amokläufen von scheinbar unbescholtenen Bürgern, die, nach dem Grund ihrer Gewalttaten gefragt, alle äußern, Gott habe es ihnen befohlen. Für den ermittelnden Polizeilieutenant Nicholas eine verzwickte Situation, ist er doch selbst gläubiger Katholik, was ihn davon abhält, sich scheiden zu lassen, obwohl er seit einiger Zeit ein Verhältnis hat. Doch je weiter er in dem Fall ermittelt und forscht, um so mehr gerät sein Weltbild ins Wanken, denn alles scheint mit einem gewissen Bernard Philips zusammen zu hängen, der von seinen Anhängern als Gottes Sohn gesehen, als Frucht einer unbefleckten Empfängnis. Doch das ist noch nicht das Ende von Nicholas Entdeckungen...
