In den siebziger Jahren hat Bruder Peter Lavin (Henry Czerny) die Knaben seines kirchlichen Waisenhauses missbraucht. Erst 15 Jahre später kommt der Fall vor Gericht. Doch Lavin, inzwischen selbst Vater, behät die Kontrolle... Der meisterliche Zweiteiler überrascht im zweiten Teil auch mit einem faszinierenden Psychogramm des Täters. Teil 1 'Schrei nach Hilfe': In dem Waisenhaus St. Vincent erziehen die Glaubensbrüder die Kinder mit brutaler Strenge. Aber die meisten Jugendlichen schweigen darüber - bis eines Nachts der kleine Kevin Reevey wegläuft. Er wurde von Bruder Lavin sexuell mißbraucht. Doch die Polizei glaubt ihm nicht. Schließlich bringt auch Hausmeister Finn weitere Mißhandlungen zur Anzeige - wieder weigern sich die Behörden einzuschreiten.
