Als russische Wissenschaftler nach einer neuen Energiequelle suchen, erwecken sie versehentlich eine gefährliche Kreatur zum Leben: Kolossus ist eine riesige Roboter-Weltuntergangsmaschine aus der Zeit des Kalten Krieges. Doch das bleibt nicht das einzige Problem der Menschheit, denn außerdem treibt in den Ozeanen wieder ein neuer gigantischer Hai - auch Mega-Shark genannt - sein Unwesen. Die Forscherin Dr. Alison Gray will das Auftauchen des eigentlich totgeglaubten Ungetüms erforschen, aber das Militär kann dem Vorhaben nichts abgewinnen. Sie haben etwas anderes mit ihm geplant. Doch dann steht Sicherheit der ganzen Welt auf dem Spiel, als beide Monster aufeinandertreffen und gegeneinander antreten. Nun müssen sich die Erdbewohner schleunigst um eine Lösung bemühen, bevor alles auf dem Land und in den Meeren durch die gewaltige Zerstörungskraft der beiden tödlichen Riesen in Schutt und Asche gelegt wird.
