Phar Lap - Legende einer Nation (1983)
Ein australisches Pferd wird von seinem Trainer bis zur völligen Erschöpfung gedrillt, um einen Sieger zu produzieren. Der Plan mißlingt, das Pferd kann sich nicht beweisen. Durch die dann aufopferungswillige und liebevolle Pflege durch den Pfleger Tommy Woodcock kommt das Pferd wieder auf die Beine und entwickelt sich zu einem einzigartigen Rennpferd. Es gewinnt ein Rennen nach dem anderen und wird zu einem Favoriten für das größte Pferderennen der Welt. Diese Siege rufen aber in einem von Korruption und Betrug geprägtem Sport jede Menge Neider auf den Plan und so endet diese fast an ein Märchen erinnernde Erfolgsstory in einem Alptraum für eine ganze Nation....
