Things We Lost in the Fire (2007)
Als er eine Frau vor ihrem gewalttätigen Ehemann beschützen will, kommt Audreys Ehemann Brian ums Leben. Allein mit ihrem Schmerz und zwei Kindern, formt sie eine ungewöhnliche Allianz mit Jerry Sunborne, dem besten und ältesten Freund ihres Mannes. In der Hoffnung, dass er ihr über ihren Schmerz hinweghelfen kann, bittet sie den Heroinabhängigen Jerry, ihr beizustehen, und lädt ihn ein, bei ihr zu wohnen. So beginnt für sie ein tägliches Ringen mit dem Aufgeben, eine fortwährende Auseinandersetzung mit dem Schicksal.
