Stadt der Toten (1960)
Vor 260 Jahren wurde in dem abgelegenen Flecken Whitewood in Massachussetts die Hexe Elizabeth Selwyn verbrannt, die jedoch, anders als die meisten, tatsächlich mit bösen Mächten im Bunde war. Von dieser Geschichte ihres Geschichtsprofessors Driscoll angeregt, will seine Studentin Nan Barlow in diesem Fall eine Feldstudie durchführen und nach Whitewood fahren, was weder ihr Freund Bill Maitland, noch ihr Bruder Dick besonders ratsam finden. Dennoch schlägt sie sich, trotz aller Warnungen, in das abgelegene Städtchen durch, wo sie allerdings nicht besonders freundlich empfangen wird. Die einzige Ausnahme ist die noch relativ neue Patricia Russell, die einen Antiquitätenladen führt. Nan entdeckt zahlreiche Spuren, aber nicht die Zeichen, die darauf hindeuten, daß ein satanisches Ritual stattfinden wird...
