I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House (2016)
In einem 200 Jahre alten Haus wohnt die alte Iris Blum (Paula Prentiss) schon seit langer Zeit. Einst war sie eine bekannte Schriftstellerin, die besonders mit Schauergeschichten Erfolg hatte. Aber jetzt ist sie nur noch eine gebrechliche und senile Frau, die unbedingt eine Pflegehilfe braucht, damit sie in dem Haus bleiben darf, in dem sie auch später sterben will. Ihr Immobilien-Verwalter Mr. Waxcap (Bob Balaban) stellt deshalb die junge Lily (Ruth Wilson) für Blum ein. Lily lässt sich auf ein sehr einsames und stilles Leben ein – die alte Frau hat keinen Kontakt mehr zu Familie oder Freunden und selbst ein Bekannter am Telefon scheint nur eine Erfindung von ihr zu sein. Zu spät muss Lily feststellen, dass die Ruhe ein tückisches Geheimnis birgt, denn plötzlich geschehen seltsame Dinge, die glatt einer Geistergeschichte von Iris Blum entsprungen sein könnten…
