Freak Show (2018)
Billy Bloom (Alex Lawther) will nur eines in seinem Leben: fabelhaft sein! Für den frühreifen und sendungsbewussten Teenager heißt das, größten Wert auf die richtige Kleidung, auf Haare und Make-up zu legen, perfekten Sinn für den extravaganten Auftritt zu haben und vor allem nie langweilig und unbedingt anders zu sein als der schnöde Durchschnitt. In der konservativen US-Kleinstadtschule, in die ihn sein steinreicher Vater gesteckt hat, stößt Billy mit seinem Charisma auf breites Unverständnis und offenes Mobbing, vor dem ihm auch sein bester Freund Flip Kelly (Ian Nelson) irgendwann nicht mehr beschützen kann. Nachdem ihn eine Gruppe homophober Mitschüler krankenhausreif geprügelt hat, holt Billy zum Gegenschlag aus: Er erklärt seine Kandidatur zur Homecoming-Queen und bereitet einen Auftritt vor, vor dem selbst 'Lady Gaga' vor Neid erblassen würde...
