Margaret (2011)
Die New Yorker Highschool-Schülerin Lisa Cohen lenkt nach dem Shoppen an der Upper East Side den Busfahrer Maretti mit einem harmlosen Flirt so ab, dass es zu einem Unfall kommt. Die 17-Jährige ist sich sicher, dass sie der Auslöser für die Tragödie war, die einer Frau das Leben gekostet hat. Um den Busfahrer zu schützen, den sie für unschuldig hält, weil sie ihn ja abgelenkt hat, lügt sie in ihrer Zeugenaussage und sagt, dass die Tote über eine rote Ampel gegangen sei. In der Schule diskutiert sie über Terrorismus und Politik und flirtet mit ihrem Mathelehrer Aaron Caije. Innerlich von ihrer Frustration zerrissen, quält sie zusehends ihre Familie, ihre Freunde, ihre Lehrer und vor allem sich selbst emotional. Ihr wird klar, dass sich ihr jugendlicher Idealismus nicht mit der harten Realität der Erwachsenenwelt vereinbaren lässt.
