Wenige Bilder haben sich so in das kollektive Gedächtnis der Amerikaner eingebrannt, wie die Videoaufzeichnung der vier weißen Polizisten, die 1992 den Afroamerikaner Rodney King krankenhausreif prügelten. Als die Gesetzeshüter kurz darauf vor Gericht freigesprochen wurden, brachen Aufstände und Straßenkämpfe in South Central L.A. aus, die sechs Tage andauern sollten, mehr als 50 Leben forderten und einen Sachschaden von über einer Milliarde Dollar anrichteten. Die Doku LA 92 von Daniel Lindsay und T.J. Martin widmet sich mithilfe von Nachrichtenbildern und Archivmaterial diesem schwierigen Kapitel der US-amerikanischen Geschichte und beleuchtet dabei zugleich das Verhältnis der afroamerikanischen Gemeinschaft zur Polizei von Los Angeles.
