Neun junge Aliens, äußerlich von Menschen nicht zu unterscheiden, sind vor außerirdischen Invasoren, die ihre ganze Spezies vernichtet haben, auf die Erde geflüchtet. Drei von ihnen fallen den Killern zum Opfer, doch der Nächste auf der Todesliste wird stärkeren Widerstand leisten. Nummer 4, alias John Smith, entdeckt auf der Highschool gerade die Liebe, aber auch seine Superkräfte. Als die außerirdischen Jäger ihn stellen, wächst John über sich hinaus und bekommt unerwartete Hilfe - aus der alten Heimat.
