Beale Street (2018)
Harlem, Anfang der 70er Jahre: Tish und Fonny sind schon seit früher Kindheit die besten Freunde, als junge Erwachsene werden sie ein Liebespaar. Doch ihr gemeinsames Glück wird auf die Probe gestellt, als Fonny beschuldigt wird, eine puerto-ricanische Haushälterin am anderen Ende der Stadt vergewaltigt zu haben. Trotz vieler entlastender Beweise muss er bis zum Beginn des Prozesses in Untersuchungshaft. Während Fonny im Gefängnis versucht, für seine Freundin stark zu bleiben, setzt die schwangere Tish alles daran, um die Unschuld des Vaters ihres Babys zu beweisen. Auch Tishs Eltern Sharon und Joseph bieten all ihre Kräfte im Kampf gegen das System auf, denn Fonnys Unschuld wird immer deutlicher. Dennoch stehen die Chancen, dass der junge Mann noch rechtzeitig zur Geburt seines Kindes aus der Haft entlassen wird, denkbar schlecht…
