Ashraf Marwan ist der Schwiegersohn des Präsidenten Gamal Abdel Nasser und auch als Berater für dessen Nachfolger auf dem Amt, Anwar Sadat tätig. Doch zugleich ist Marwan auch der bedeutendste Agent des israelischen Auslandsgeheimdienstes. Als Spion steht der Ägypter nun zwischen den Fronten, alles im Namen des Friedens und unter seinem Codenamen „Der Engel“.
