Il caimano del Piave (1951)
Wir schreiben das Jahr 1917, die Zeit des Ersten Weltkriegs, in dem Italien gegen Österreich-Ungarn kämpft. Lucilla di Torrebruna verlässt das Internat und kehrt zu ihrem Vater zurück, einem Kavallerieoberst, der in San Donà di Piave lebt. Er eröffnet ihr, dass Helène, eine ausländische Dame, seine neue Frau werden soll. Lucilla nimmt diese Nachricht gelassen auf und freut sich über das Glück ihres Vaters, auch wenn ihr von ihrer neuen Stiefmutter eine gewisse kühle Gleichgültigkeit entgegengebracht wird.
