Cathy Palmer ist eine ganz normale Hausfrau, nachts jedoch schreibt sie Abenteuerromane, in denen sie selbst die Rolle der verführerischen und mutigen Heldin Rebecca Ryan schlüpft. Eines Tages gewinnt Cathy bei einem Wettbewerb eine Reise nach Paris. Dort wird sie in einen Autounfall verwickelt und der resultierende Schock hat für sie fatale Folgen: Sie glaubt, sie sei tatsächlich Rebecca Ryan. Als sie dann auch noch den hübschen Playboy McMann kennenlernt, entwickelt sich turbulentes Abenteuer...
