Jilian ist eine erfolgreiche Paartherapeutin und Bestsellerautorin für Selbsthilfebücher. Karrieretechnisch läuft bei ihr alles wie geplant, aber in ihrer eigenen Ehe gibt es Probleme, die Jilian nicht lösen kann. Als ihr Mann ohne sie verreist, nötigt Jilians beste Freundin sie dazu, einen Welpen aus dem Tierheim aufzunehmen. Der kleine Hund bringt nicht nur Chaos in Jilians Leben, sondern verhilft ihr auch zu einer zündenden Idee um ihre Ehe zu retten.
