Seine Karriere als Politiker und Bundeskanzler ist eng verknüpft mit der Disziplin, der Konsequenz und auch der Leidensfähigkeit seiner Frau. Aber die Geschichte von Hannelore Kohl ist auch die Geschichte einer immer einsamer werdenden Frau. Einer, die oft verkannt und noch viel öfter verunglimpft wurde, die immer Stärke zeigen musste und doch viel Gutes bewirkte. Eine Frau, deren Lebensrhythmus bestimmt war durch Legislaturperioden und das Machtsystem Helmut Kohl und die am Ende auch an der Eiseskälte dieser Machtpolitik zugrunde ging
