Im Jahr 1950 war der Roman „Heiße Küste” von Marguerite Duras für den Goncourt-Preis nominiert, ging dann aber leer aus. Zu marxistisch, zu subversiv, zu vaterlandskritisch – für die damalige Zeit, versteht sich. Heute ist ihr Roman als eines der ersten literarischen Werke anerkannt, das die Kolonisierung offen anprangerte. Die Dokumentation bietet eine neue Lektüre des Buchs.
