Shapoklyak war ein beliebter Bösewicht aus einer Geschichte über Cheburashka, die der russische Schriftsteller Eduard Uspensky geschrieben hatte. Der erste Auftritt von Shapoklyak war im Animationsfilm Gena the Crocodile von Roman Kachanov.
