Die junge Asuna verbringt ihre wenige freie Zeit damit, den Klängen eines Kristallradios zu lauschen, dass sie von ihrem Vater bekam. Eines Tages empfängt sie darauf eine mysteriöse Melodie, die anders ist als alles, was sie jemals gehört hat. Kurz darauf geschieht noch etwas Unheimliches: Asuna steht auf einmal einer riesigen Bestie gegenüber, doch ein geheimnisvoller Junge taucht plötzlich auf und kann sie vor einem Angriff bewahren. Shun erzählt ihr, dass er aus einem fremden Land namens Agartha stammt, aber am nächsten Tag ist er verschwunden. Auf der Suche nach ihm entdeckt Asuna nicht nur eine unbekannte, verborgene Welt, sondern auch die Wege des Lebens selbst, die nicht nur helle Seiten bereithalten...
