Die Novizin (2021)
Um ein wenig Anschluss an ihre Kommilitoninnen zu finden, tritt die eigenbrötlerische und ein Geheimnis mit sich herumtragende Studienanfängerin Alex Dall (Isabelle Fuhrman) dem Ruderteam ihrer Universität bei. Zunächst läuft unter der Aufsicht des Trainers (Jonathan Cherry) alles recht gut und Alex kommt sogar ihren Mitstreiterinnen Jamie (Amy Forsyth), Dani (Dilone) und Winona (Jeni Ross) etwas näher. Doch dann übermannt die junge Frau ein obsessiver Ehrgeiz, immer besser und vor allem besser als die anderen zu werden. Sie schindet ihren Körper, bis die Hände bluten und sie kurz vor dem physischen als auch psychischen Zusammenbruch steht. Sie will es – koste es, was es wolle – in das Boot mit den besten Ruderinnen schaffen und ist bald bereit, dafür nicht nur sich selbst zu zerstören
