The Royal Hotel (2023)
Die Kanadierinnen Hanna (Julia Garner) und Liv (Jessica Henwick) sind beste Freundinnen, die mit dem Rucksack in Australien unterwegs sind. Als ihnen das Geld ausgeht, überredet die abenteuerlustige Liv Hanna, vorübergehend hinter der Bar eines Pubs namens „The Royal Hotel" in einer abgelegenen Bergbaustadt im australischen Outback zu arbeiten. Der Barbesitzer Billy (Hugo Weaving) und eine Reihe von Einheimischen machen die Mädchen auf die harte Tour mit der Trinkkultur in Down Under vertraut. Dabei geraten sie unter anderem mit Matty (Toby Wallace) und Dolly (Daniel Henshall) aneinander. Und Billy scheint wenig Interesse daran zu haben, seine beiden neuen Mitarbeiterinnen vor den übergriffigen Locals zu schützen. Daraufhin eskaliert die Situation endgültig: Billy landet nach einem Streit im Krankenhaus, Liv und Hanna feiern eine alkoholreiche Party mit den Locals und anderen Royal-Gästen, die zunehmend aus dem Ruder läuft – bis es brennt...
