Der konföderierte Superspion Johnny und sein Komplize Steve reisen gegen Ende des Bürgerkriegs nach San Francisco. Johnny gibt sich als Sänger und Gitarrenlehrer, Steve als Verkäufer von Zaubertränken aus. Dort angekommen, setzt Johnny eine falsche Perücke, einen Bart und einen Schnurrbart auf und stiehlt Gold der Unionstruppen, um es in den Süden zu bringen. Dabei hilft ihm eine Gitarre, die gleichzeitig als Pistole dient.
