Es geht doch nichts über einen Kurztrip, um auf andere Gedanken zu kommen. Ab ins Auto, Musik an, den Highway entlangbrausen, Abenteuer erleben und grenzenlose Freiheit genießen: So jedenfalls stellen sich die frisch getrennte Jamie und ihre Freundin Marian ihren Roadtrip nach Tallahassee im sonnigen Florida vor. Doch natürlich kommt alles ganz anders. Denn die beiden jungen Frauen ahnen nicht, dass ihnen durch einen Irrtum ein Mietwagen ausgehändigt wurde, in dessen Kofferraum sich höchst brisante Fracht befindet. Bald müssen die Freundinnen feststellen, dass einige ebenso zwielichtige wie unfähige Gestalten hinter ihnen her sind, die es auf die geheimnisvolle Ladung abgesehen haben.
