Bruce Ernst, ein charismatischer Serienkiller mit einer Vorliebe für Kunst, hat Meredith Tanning, eine Museumskuratorin, in seinen Bann gezogen – nichtsahnend verbringt sie ein romantisches Wochenende mit ihm. Doch Bruces dunkle Natur gewinnt die Oberhand: Im Rausch seiner Gewalt erwürgt er Meredith. Als er aus seiner Trance erwacht, ist ihre Leiche spurlos verschwunden.
