Sweet and Lowdown (1999)
Im Amerika der dreißiger Jahre erweist sich Emmett Ray als begnadeter Jazzgitarrist, der nur von seinem großen Vorbild Django Reinhardt übertroffen wird. Doch weil der unzuverlässige Emmett mindestens so viel Zeit für Glücksspiel, Alkohol und Frauen wie für seine Musik aufwendet, gerät seine Karriere immer wieder ins Stocken. Erst die Beziehung zu einem taubstummen Mädchen lässt ihn verantwortungsbewusster werden. Doch dann kehrt wieder der alte Schlendrian ein und mit Emmet geht's rapide bergab.
