Joanne K. Rowling bekannt als J. K. Rowling oder unter ihrem Pseudonym Robert Galbraith, ist eine britische Schriftstellerin, die mit einer Reihe von Romanen um den Zauberschüler Harry Potter berühmt wurde. Die Mittelinitiale „K“, die für den Vornamen ihrer Großmutter „Kathleen“ steht, fügte Rowling selbst hinzu. Einige Jahre lang galt Rowling als wohlhabendste Schriftstellerin der Weltgeschichte, nachdem das Forbes Magazine ihr Vermögen 2004 erstmals auf eine Milliarde US-Dollar geschätzt hatte. In einer 2007 veröffentlichten TV-Dokumentation dementierte sie diese Summe jedoch. 2012 wurde sie schließlich von Forbes aus der Liste der Dollar-Milliardäre entfernt.
