Michael Patrick Dougherty (* 28. Oktober 1974) ist ein US-amerikanischer Autor, Regisseur, Animator und Produzent, der für seine Arbeit an einer Vielzahl von Genrefilmen bekannt ist, sowohl großen als auch kleinen Produktionen. Dougherty begann seine Karriere als Animator und Illustrator. Seine Animationen wurden auf MTV, Nickelodeon und einer Reihe von skurrilen Grußkarten des Verlags NobleWorks gezeigt. Anschließend war er Co-Autor der Blockbuster X2 und Superman Returns, bevor er mit der Horrorkomödie Trick ‘r Treat (2009) sein Regiedebüt gab. Danach führte er Regie bei der Weihnachts-Horrorkomödie Krampus (2015), an der er auch als Co-Autor mitwirkte. Dougherty war Co-Autor und Regisseur des Blockbusters Godzilla II: King of the Monsters (2019) und schrieb die Geschichte für dessen Fortsetzung Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) mit. Insgesamt haben Doughertys Werke an den Kinokassen über zwei Milliarden Dollar eingespielt.
