William Cameron Menzies war ein mit dem Oscar ausgezeichneter US-amerikanischer Filmproduktionsdesigner (ein von ihm geprägter Berufstitel) und Szenenbildner, der in seiner fünf Jahrzehnte umspannenden Karriere auch als Regisseur (u.a. Things to Come (1936) und Invasion vom Mars (1953)), Produzent und Drehbuchautor tätig war. Er erlangte Anerkennung für seine Arbeit im Stummfilm und leistete später Pionierarbeit beim Einsatz von Farbe im Film für dramatische Effekte.
