Peter Dougan Capaldi (* 14. April 1958) ist ein schottischer Schauspieler, Autor und Regisseur. Er verkörperte die zwölfte Inkarnation des Doktors in „Doctor Who“ und Malcolm Tucker, den Spin-Doctor, in der Sitcom „The Thick of It“, für die er vier Nominierungen für den British Academy Television Award erhielt und 2010 als Bester männlicher Comedy-Darsteller ausgezeichnet wurde. Als er die Rolle in „In the Loop“ wieder aufnahm, wurde Capaldi mit mehreren Nominierungen von Filmkritikern als Bester Nebendarsteller geehrt. 2012 schrieb, inszenierte und spielte Capaldi (gemeinsam mit Tony Roche) in „The Cricklewood Greats“, einer liebevollen Parodie auf einen Dokumentarfilm über ein fiktives Filmstudio, der reale Entwicklungen und Trends in der Geschichte des britischen Kinos nachzeichnet. Zu seinen Filmrollen zählen Oldsen in „Local Hero“, Angus Flint in Ken Russells „Der weiße Wurm“ und Mr. Curry in „Paddington“ und dessen Fortsetzung „Paddington 2“. Als Regisseur gewann Capaldi den Oscar für den besten Kurzfilm und den BAFTA Award für den besten Kurzfilm für seinen Kurzfilm „Franz Kafkas Ist das Leben nicht schön?“. Anschließend schrieb und inszenierte er das Drama „Strictly Sinatra“ und führte bei zwei Staffeln der Sitcom „Getting On“ Regie.
