Dante Basco ist ein philippinisch-amerikanischer Schauspieler, Tänzer und Rapper, geboren am 29. August 1975 in Pittsburg, Kalifornien. Internationale Bekanntheit erlangte er durch seine Rolle als Rufio im Film Hook (1991), in dem er den Anführer der „verlorenen Jungs“ spielte. Besonders berühmt ist er außerdem als Synchronsprecher von Prinz Zuko in der Zeichentrickserie Avatar – Der Herr der Elemente (Avatar: The Last Airbender, 2005–2008). Weitere bekannte Synchronrollen sind Jake Long in American Dragon: Jake Long (2005–2007) und zahlreiche Figuren in Animations- und Videospielproduktionen. Basco trat zudem in Filmen wie But I’m a Cheerleader (1999), Fakin’ Da Funk (1997), The Debut (2000) und Biker Boyz (2003) auf. In den 2020er Jahren war er weiterhin als Schauspieler und Sprecher aktiv, unter anderem in Serien wie The Dragon Prince und Firebuds. Er ist Teil einer Künstlerfamilie und Bruder von Darion, Derek, Dion und Ariana Basco. In seiner Jugend war er Mitglied einer Breakdance-Crew und spielte in diversen Fernsehproduktionen mit, darunter Gastrollen in Der Prinz von Bel-Air und Moesha. Dante Basco wurde mehrfach ausgezeichnet und ist für seine markante Stimme und seine vielfältigen Rollen in Film, Fernsehen und Animation bekannt.
