Die Vaudeville-Komikerin Billie Bird Sellen wurde im Alter von acht Jahren in einem Waisenhaus entdeckt und engagiert, um mit einer Vaudeville-Truppe auf Tournee zu gehen. Während des Vietnamkriegs begleitete sie in den 1960er und 1970er Jahren zwölf USO-Tourneen und unterhielt die Truppen in den Kriegsgebieten. Zuletzt war sie 1995 in „Jury Duty“ (1995) mit Pauly Shore zu sehen. Weitere bemerkenswerte Auftritte hatte sie in „Dennis the Menace“ (1993) und „Kevin – Allein zu Haus“ (1990). Einer ihrer bekanntesten Filmauftritte war in „Ein seltsames Paar“ (1968). Ihr letzter Auftritt war ein Cameo-Auftritt 1997 in der kurzlebigen Fernsehkomödie „George & Leo“ (1997) mit Judd Hirsch und Bob Newhart. Sie war von 1988 bis 1992 regelmäßig in der Sitcom „Dear John“ (1988) zu sehen und spielte in Produktionen wie „Ernest Saves Christmas“ (1988) und „Polizeiakademie 4: Bürger auf Streife“ (1987) eine fröhliche und freche Seniorin.
