Peter Jeremy William Huggins, bekannt unter seinem Künstlernamen Jeremy Brett, war ein hochgelobter englischer Schauspieler mit einer beeindruckenden Karriere auf der Bühne, im Film und im Fernsehen. Am bekanntesten ist er für seine Darstellung des berühmten Detektivs Sherlock Holmes in der Granada-Fernsehserie „Die Abenteuer des Sherlock Holmes“ (1984–1994). Bretts Interpretation gilt als ikonisch. Seine Darstellung verlieh der Figur Tiefe, Intelligenz und Charisma und brachte ihm breite Anerkennung und eine treue Fangemeinde ein. Bretts Hingabe, die Feinheiten von Sherlock Holmes zu verkörpern und die Exzentrik und Brillanz des Detektivs einzufangen, festigte seinen Ruf als eine der prägendsten Darstellungen der Figur in der Geschichte der Film- und Fernsehbearbeitungen.
