Mack Swain (geboren als Moroni Swain, 16. Februar 1876 – 25. August 1935) war ein US-amerikanischer Filmschauspieler der ersten Stunde. Er wirkte in zahlreichen Komödien von Mack Sennett in den Keystone Studios mit, darunter die „Keystone Cops“-Reihe. Auch in bedeutenden Filmen von Charlie Chaplin war er zu sehen. Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts besaß Swain seine eigene Theatergruppe, die im Westen und Mittleren Westen der USA auftrat. Bevor er unter Mack Sennett in den Keystone Studios zum Stummfilm wechselte, arbeitete Swain im Varieté. Dort drehte er gemeinsam mit Chester Conklin eine Reihe von Komödien. Mit Swain als „Ambrose“ und Conklin als dem imposanten, schnurrbärtigen „Walross“ verkörperten sie diese Rollen in mehreren Filmen, darunter „The Battle of Ambrose and Walrus“ und „Love, Speed ​​and Thrills“, beide aus dem Jahr 1915. Neben diesen Komödien traten die beiden gemeinsam in einer Vielzahl weiterer Filme auf, insgesamt 26. Sie wirkten auch einzeln und/oder zusammen in Filmen mit Mabel Normand, Charles Chaplin, Roscoe Arbuckle und den meisten anderen Mitgliedern der Keystone-Schauspielerriege mit. Später nahm Swain seine Rolle als Ambrose mit zur L-KO Kompany. Nachdem er bereits bei Keystone mit Charles Chaplin zusammengearbeitet hatte, begann Swain 1921 erneut mit ihm bei First National zu arbeiten und wirkte in „The Idle Class“, „Pay Day“ und „The Pilgrim“ mit. Er ist außerdem für seine bedeutende Nebenrolle als Big Jim McKay in dem 1925 für United Artists produzierten Film „The Gold Rush“ bekannt, der von Chaplin geschrieben wurde und in dem er auch die Hauptrolle spielte. Für seinen Beitrag zur Filmindustrie erhielt Mack Swain einen Stern auf dem Hollywood Walk of Fame in der Vine Street 1500.
