Renny Harlin (geboren als Renny Lauri Mauritz Harjola am 15. März 1959) ist ein finnischer Filmregisseur und -produzent, der für sein umfangreiches Werk im Action- und Horrorgenre bekannt ist. Seine erfolgreichste Zeit erlebte er von Ende der 1980er bis Ende der 1990er Jahre, in denen er zahlreiche Kassenschlager drehte, darunter „A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master“, „Stirb langsam 2“, „Cliffhanger“ und „Deep Blue Sea“. Seit Mitte der 2000er Jahre ließ der kommerzielle Erfolg seiner Filme nach, dennoch belegt Harlin Platz 86 der Liste der umsatzstärksten Regisseure aller Zeiten (gemessen am US-Einspielergebnis). Er arbeitete hauptsächlich im Hollywood-Studiosystem, verbrachte aber auch Zeit in seiner Heimat Finnland und einen kurzen Aufenthalt in China.
